Head to head: where is better to get drunk, Niles or Pike?

by time news

Both are beautiful, both are true, both are the last remnants of Tel Aviv from the days when we almost lost our lives because of an overdose at Allenby, and not because of predatory Walt messengers with too many doses and too little time – the Peacock and the Nile are one of the rare cases in which the exhausting but justified title “Institution “. They share quite a few launch points and seemingly appeal to the same audience – actors, musicians, journalists and other freelancers who have never known a Tenbis card or a mortgage, in short, anyone who has been called a “hipster” at least a double-digit number of times sometime between 2009-2016. But at the end of the day, literally, we all want to nibble on something nice alongside Sauvignon Blanc in front of handsome people and condescending waitresses. So who would you leave a higher tip for?

Peacock

Location: Marmurek will come to the stage. The bright side of the moon.
seniority: Just arrived at the mitzvah.
Atmosphere: Since Shemayan, the mythical manager and the living and kicking spirit of the place, relocated to Rome, the atmosphere is less familiar than before. Also the fact that Josh, the legendary and beloved bartender who filled her shoes, left not long after her – did not please the regulars of the place. The main thing is that we have Shimon Mashel, the creator of the peacock, who makes sure that the place is friendly and cheerful from the early evening hours until closing. Sometimes the cock is too happy, but that’s how it is when you go to the busiest square in town – the sex appeal of the place usually increases after the shows end.

Service: The attitude that was associated with the place in its early years is completely a thing of the past. Sometimes the service can still be a little confused, or all kinds of dishes are delayed for them, but we will not shrink. With the arrival of the peacock to the mitzvot, the consciousness of service developed big time.
Food: Based on the wonderful Georgian cuisine. The khachapuri is amazing but painfully small for the price. The coquettish pizzas are the perfect snack for those who need an empty and comforting carb without too much pangs of conscience.
The Bottom Line: The perfect place for an early evening drink.

Nile

Location: Allenby. The Dark Side of the Moon.
seniority: 6 years, but feels much longer. In a good way.
Atmosphere: Chic, but not trying. Dark, but lit in the right places. Sexy, but not sleazy, flirtatious, but not with you. In short, all the reasons to develop a crush on a place.
Service: indifferent to condescending.
Food: meticulous and great. It’s amazing how addictive a “typical” bar dish like gouda cubes, peanuts and olives can be. And wait until you taste the potato salad.
The Bottom Line: The perfect place for a late night drink. If you manage to find a place of course.
