When it comes to the topic of “heat pumps”, people get heated.
But even those who decide on the cost-intensive project are slowed down. For example, if you simply cannot get the legally required approval from the network operator. Like health scientist Christian Grete (53) from Schorfheide (Brandenburg). He had to wait 16 months until the electrician could finally get started!
Christian Grete had been creating the conditions for a long time: photovoltaics were installed on his roof in 2009 – for 54,000 euros. A year later for 27,000 euros on the house next door to the in-laws. Both solar power systems produce 17,000 kilowatt hours (kWh) per year.

It still feeds all of this electricity into the grid. There is a remuneration of up to 8,000 euros per year. The two households only use 6500 kWh per year. But he is not yet allowed to use his own electricity.
Pump there, permission not
Homeowner Grete thought that the excess electricity could easily be used to run a heat pump: “In June 2022, I submitted the permit application to the network operator so that I can also use the electricity that I produce myself.”

Nothing happened for a long, long time. Christian Grete: “People tell me on the phone that they simply have too much to do. But now the second winter without a heat pump is just around the corner. I finally want to use this profitable technology!” The pump for 26,000 euros has long been ready.
Christian Grete: “My electrician is also in the starting blocks. According to the network operator’s instructions, he must convert the meters so that his own consumption can be recorded separately.”

But it was only now, when Christian Grete switched on “BILD Fights”, that a satisfactory answer came from E.dis.
Spokesman Horst Jordan: “We very much regret the delays that have occurred.” And: The electrician can “now immediately start the desired conversion of the house installation.”
