Thiruvananthapuram: Warning that rain will continue in the state today. Yellow alert has been announced in 12 districts today. Yellow alert in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod districts. The Central Meteorological Department has informed that there is a possibility of heavy rain in these districts. Heavy rainfall means rainfall between 64.5 mm and 115.5 mm in 24 hours.

The Central Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert in some districts, but due to the possibility of isolated heavy thundershowers in the hilly areas, caution similar to the orange alert should be observed in the hilly areas which have received heavy rains in the past few days. People in low-lying areas, riverbanks and hilly areas prone to landslides should be extra cautious as rain continues in areas that have received heavy rainfall in the past few days.

Residents in areas affected by landslides and floods in 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021, identified by Geological Survey of India and expert committee of state disaster management authorities as hazard prone areas or uninhabitable areas, as well as local bodies and government agencies should complete disaster preparedness. .
