• The death toll from the Russian bombardment of an apartment building in Chassiv Yar, eastern Ukraine, has been reassessed at 48 on Sunday., including a child. Nine people were pulled alive from the rubble, and rescue operations are continuing.
• The city of Bakhmout, in Donetsk oblast, suffered heavy shelling overnight from Tuesday to Wednesday, according to a journalist from the Kyiv Independent. According to him, these strikes are a Russian response to Ukrainian attacks against ammunition depots in Luhansk Oblast.
• According to online media Ukrainian Pravdaquoting Yury Ihnat, spokesman for the Ukrainian Air Force Command, Ukrainian air force has carried out 1,700 airstrikes against Russian forces since the start of the conflict on 24 February. These strikes reportedly targeted warehouses, equipment and troops.
• A meeting between Russians and Ukrainians in the presence of United Nations representatives is due to open on Wednesday, in Turkey, on the difficult question of grain exports via the Black Sea.
• The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) announced that 5,024 civilians had been killed in Ukraine since Russia invaded the country, adding that the toll was likely much higher. OHCHR also said 6,520 civilians were injured.
• The United States announced on Tuesday that it would provide an additional $1.7 billion in aid to Ukraine, bringing to 4 billion the total amount of the latter since the outbreak of the war. This new contribution is part of the $7.5 billion pledged to kyiv by US President Joe Biden in May.
