Democratic strategist James Carville said Thursday on MSNBC’s “The Beat” that Ron DeSantis is a “confused guy” out of former President Donald Trump’s league.
While discussing a possible indictment against Trump, host Ari Melber asked: “My last question is, do you see DeSantis and other people using it more, or is it too complicated for them because it cuts both ways?”
Carville said, “You know, DeSantis is proving the wisdom of Mike Tyson. Everybody has a plan until you punch him in the mouth. This guy, he doesn’t know whether to stretch his back or scratch his watch. And he tried to play in a league that he didn’t can play it, and that’s pretty obvious.”
He continued, “I mean, he’s a messed up guy, and you know, Trump punched him in the mouth, and he lost his plan. He just went completely off script. So I take my hat off to Iron Mike.”
Melber said, “That’s a good quote from Tyson, and it sounds like you’re not under the impression that Santis is really up there the way he’s been built, and we haven’t seen him in national settings and in interviews and long discussions, so we’ll see.”
Carville said, “Take a closer look. It’ll be fun.”
