50th petanque world championship: Here is the plan to guarantee the organization in Benin

In September 2023, the 50e edition of the Petanque World Championship. This is what should be remembered from the press briefing given by the President of the African Bowls Sports Confederation, El Hadj Ibrahima Idrissou, on Saturday March 18, 2023, at the headquarters of the body after a working session with the members of the executive committee of the Beninese petanque federation. Because, in order to offer a competition in a dream space, Benin through its government has decided to build a bowling alley worthy of the name. A challenge that the boss of the Casb wishes to see concretized by the President of the Republic, Patrice Talon whom he says “knows how to be rigorous on the principles, knows how to give himself the means to achieve the objectives that he has freely set himself” . “But the project has taken on such a scale that there is, to date, no doubt about the delivery of the site within the deadline for organizing this competition. And so that the country does not see itself withdrawing the organization, especially since because of these construction works, the holding of the championship had already experienced a slippage in the date, the members of the federation chaired by Garba Yaya, made the proposal that the championship organization project be separated from the bowling alley construction project and that a removable bowling alley be set up as has already been the case during other world championships in the discipline, particularly in Spain. A proposal that the president of the confederation did not reject, which shows his full commitment to holding this competition on Beninese soil, even if he continues to believe in the credibility of the word given in the Council of Ministers by the Head of the State regarding the construction of the bowling alley. “It appears that your federation has legitimate concerns with regard to the construction of the bowling alley on the one hand and the good organization of the world championship of petanque which will take place in Cotonou, in spite of the slippage of the date which we have obtained with difficulty of the International Federation of Petanque and Provençal Game (FIPJP)”, declared the president of the Casb before inviting the Beninese bowlers as foreigners “not to trust the malicious tongues of the birds of bad omen and other incredulous who wish not to see, taking place in Cotonou in Benin, the 50e edition of the petanque world championship”.
