High School Musical: Students & Teachers Take the Stage

Sacré-Cœur High School Marks 52 Years of Annual Musical Tradition

A vibrant tradition of student and adult collaboration continues at Sacré-Cœur-d’Angers high school, as preparations ramp up for their 52nd annual musical performance, scheduled for January 9th and 10th, 2026.

For over half a century, the students and adults of Sacré-Cœur-d’Angers in Maine-et-Loire have come together each year to stage a full-scale musical production. This enduring commitment to the arts is largely thanks to the dedication of Vincent Drouin, who has been instrumental in motivating and guiding the students since 1998. “I’m 52 years old, the same age as this adventure!” Drouin playfully remarked, highlighting his long-standing connection to the school’s theatrical endeavors.

Drouin, a former student of Sacré-Cœur, currently serves as the head of extracurricular activities. However, his involvement extends far beyond administrative duties. He is a multifaceted artist – a comedian, musician, composer, and director – bringing a wealth of creative experience to the production. “I’m a bit of a Swiss Army knife,” he quipped, acknowledging his diverse skillset.

His expertise also extends to academia, where he teaches scenography at the Catholic University and serves as a pedagogical director. He further contributes his talents to the Château du Plessis-Macé, demonstrating a broad range of artistic pursuits.

This year’s production, titled La Complainte du Chat Noir, promises a spectacle featuring a French cancan choreographed in the colors of France. A photograph showcases Drouin amidst the extensive collection of costumes accumulated over the 52 years of these productions, a testament to the school’s rich theatrical history.

The annual musical is a cornerstone of the Sacré-Cœur community, fostering collaboration and artistic expression for generations of students and adults alike. The upcoming performances on January 9th and 10th, 2026, are poised to continue this beloved tradition, showcasing the dedication and talent nurtured within the school’s walls.
