There is great sadness for Fritz Wepper. The actor died at the age of 82. In addition to his two daughters Sophie and Filippa, he also leaves behind his wife Susanne. The 49-year-old saw death coming.
In recent years, the actor has repeatedly struggled with health problems. In 2021, Fritz Wepper was diagnosed with skin cancer, after which a tumor was discovered in his stomach. The “For Heaven’s Sake” star later also became infected with the coronavirus.

“Fritz’s condition was very serious”
Most recently he was in the hospital for blood poisoning, but was then on the mend. At this point, however, his wife was already assuming the worst. “Fritz’s condition was initially very serious,” Susanne Kellermann told the “Bild” newspaper at the time. “I don’t know how many times I’ve said goodbye to Fritz over the past few years.”
Now it has come, the farewell forever. Fritz Wepper died three months after the interview. At the beginning of March, the actor was taken to a hospice in Upper Bavaria. Susanne Kellermann was at his side until the end. “Fritz fell asleep peacefully,” she confirmed to “Bild”. He died in the hospice at 9:45 a.m. Monday morning.
“He wouldn’t have survived the night”
Fritz Wepper and Susanne Kellermann met in 2009. Even then she was confronted with his health problems. In 2011, the actor struggled with blood poisoning after his hunting dog Aron scratched his arm.
Susanne had insisted that he have the wound examined. “If Fritz hadn’t come to the clinic, he wouldn’t have survived the night,” a doctor told her at the time. Doctors fought for his life for two weeks. His arm, which was already partially dead, could only be saved through an operation. “So Susanne saved my life through her attention and persistence.”
“Our love had no chance”
Their daughter Filippa was born in the same year. But just four months after the birth, the couple announced their separation. “We endured a lot together. Now we just can’t do it anymore. Our love had no chance,” said Susanne, then 35, to “Bunte”.
Fritz Wepper moved back in with his ex-wife and even thought about a romantic comeback with Angela von Morgen. But instead of Angela, Fritz Wepper got back together with Susanne. The two married in 2019, six months after the death of his first wife. They were inseparable until their deaths.
