Israel continues to impose hunger and thirst on 400,000 Palestinians in northern Gaza, dropping bombs on their heads and shooting indiscriminately at the entire population, at everything that moves: children and women among the greatest victims. The scenes are macabre.
Entire residential blocks are reduced to dust in a matter of minutes. The image of children destroyed, once again, is frightening. Another chapter in the horror of the genocide that has been going on for a year and which has already claimed at least 180 thousand Palestinian victims in the Strip alone. The majority are women and children. According to a researcher at the University of Edinburgh, if the carnage continues, by the end of 2024 there will be 335,500 deaths (14% of Gaza’s population).
What is underway now, in northern Gaza, is what is called the “Master Plan”. Presented to the Zionist leadership by a group of its retired officers, under the leadership of Giora Eiland, it is an updated version of the infamous Dahiyeh doctrine, developed “on the ground” during the Israeli invasion of Lebanon in 2006, in the Beirut suburb. bears that name. In other words, on the Lebanese bodies of the time – and now revisited in these too.
The Dahiyeh Doctrine aims to cause maximum destruction to the entire population to turn them against their resistance. It does not work. Just as its new version, the “Generals’ Plan,” which confines, without water or food, 400,000 Palestinians in northern Gaza, burning them alive, bombing their schools and hospitals and promoting ever more massacres, does not work.
With no exit in the real concentration camp that Israel has turned Gaza into, many Palestinians refuse to leave their homes; The situation in the south is equally unsustainable, there is no safe area in the ghetto where they are trapped.
Palestinians, most of whom are young – half in Gaza are under 18 – know that resistance is not a choice, it is an existence under the constant threat of being wiped off the map.
This is throughout occupied Palestine, subjected to genocide, ethnic cleansing, colonization, apartheid, racism. A feeling shared in the refuge/diaspora. It has been 76 years of the ongoing Nakba, the Palestinian catastrophe whose cornerstone was the formation of the genocidal state of Israel in 1948.
Proof of this are the expressions of all parties, of the Palestinian and Arab people in general, after the murder of the Palestinian fighter Yahia Sinwar, who died fighting with a weapon in his hand for the freedom of his people. “Resistance never dies.”
“With blood we write for Palestine,” said the Palestinian Marxist revolutionary Ghassan Kanafani.
Unconditionally supporting the heroic and historic Palestinian resistance is the role of international solidarity, of the oppressed and exploited who understand that this struggle is also theirs, for their liberation.
In this direction, it is urgent to expand Israel’s international isolation, increasing pressure for all states to immediately sever relations with this military enclave of imperialism.
