The incident took place at Thalavoor Govt. Ayurveda Hospital in Pathanapuram constituency. Ganesh Kumar was accompanied by panchayat officials yesterday. The inauguration was scheduled for the 14th of this month but the new building was already open due to the rush of patients. The MLA was angry to see the hospital floor and cupboards lying in the dust. He took the broom lying there and started sweeping the floor. The woman who came to buy the medicine tried to buy a broom saying that she could weigh it but she did not give up. The MLA said he was hanging out to embarrass doctors and other staff. The MLA exploded when he saw the new toilet lying broken.
The MLA said he wanted to invite the health minister to the inauguration and insulted officials, including the chief medical officer, saying they were ashamed to come here unhygienic. He also expressed dissatisfaction with the panchayat members for not paying enough attention to the hospital.
Despite repeated requests from the medical officer to hire cleaners, no action was taken. More than two hundred patients visit daily. The Chief Medical Officer and others have played a major role in the development of the hospital. Insulting them is unacceptable.
