Bobo Dioulasso(AIB)-The President of the Superior Council of Communication (CSC), Abdoulazize Bamogo, called during his stay from March 15 to 19, 2023 in Bobo-Dioulasso, journalists to “a high sense” of social responsibility , as part of the exercise of their profession in order to further contribute to the fight against terrorism which has plagued Burkina Faso since 2016.

In a difficult context characterized by the security crisis and the proliferation of fake news, disinformation and hate speech on social networks, the task of information and communication professionals becomes more complex.

It is to find the right balance in such a situation that the president of the Superior Council of Communication (CSC), Abdoulazize Bamogo, exchanged with the journalists on their social responsibility in the exercise of the profession.

For the first head of the information and communication regulatory body, in this situation of “serious crisis, we must ensure that the professional media are stronger to disseminate healthy and true information”.

When asked what type of journalist is needed to deal with the difficult security crisis, the president of the CSC says that he refers media professionals to “their heavy social responsibility in addition to respect for ethics and professional ethics”.

“What each of us publishes or broadcasts can help the country in this crisis. We are now all responsible in this situation. Before publishing or broadcasting, you have to think twice about the positive or negative impact of the message or information. If this message can help to get out of the situation, it should be published. Otherwise, abstain, ”said Mr. Bamogo.

Recall that the security crisis in the country has caused more than 1.8 million internally displaced people and hundreds of health centers and schools closed.

Abdoulazize Bamogo said that Burkina Faso has more than 2,000,000 social network subscribers who broadcast millions of images, messages and information on different platforms all day long.

Aware of this social responsibility for a way out of the crisis, the journalists of Bobo-Dioulasso, through the voice of the president of the Union of journalists, communicators and press correspondents of the Hauts-Bassins, Moutamou Kani, wanted support from the CSC to training adapted to this situation.

The president of the CSC also invited the approximately 2,000,000 subscribers of social networks to show responsibility in everything they broadcast or publish on their pages in order to help the country emerge from terrorism.

On the sidelines of this stay, the President of the CSC paid a courtesy visit to the customary, religious and administrative authorities of the city of Sya, and to certain press organs to share the vision of the information regulation institution. .
