Housing prices inflated in Turkish resorts despite epidemic situation

by time news

The news coming from the Turkish coast continues to upset tourists planning to enjoy the “velvet season” there. Despite a successful vaccination campaign, the epidemic situation in Turkey remains tense. The other day, a sad “anti-record” was set – 21.6 thousand new cases of coronavirus infection. We talked about the situation in Turkish resorts with Russians living in Alanya, and found out from tourists planning a trip to Turkey if the statistics of diseases in the country frighten them.

According to the Turkish Ministry of Health, the death toll has been gradually increasing since the beginning of August, reaching 183 on 17 August, the highest since 23 May. “If we do not act in a controlled manner and ignore measures, we will continue to suffer losses. Let’s get vaccinated, ”said the Minister of Health of the Republic, Fahrettin Koca. Turkish doctors have repeatedly stated that almost all those who are hospitalized or undergoing treatment in intensive care units are not vaccinated.

Meanwhile, according to ATOR, Turkey is by far the leader in the list of the most popular foreign destinations for the autumn holidays of Russians. This is evidenced by the sales data of tour operators and retail chains. Egypt is not yet in the top five – without charters, it is difficult for it to compete with the Turks.

An expert on rest in Turkey, Vladimir Hotko, commented on the statistics to us: “There are no records, the number is kept within 20 thousand. Antalya and Bodrum have been declining for the fourth week. Alania is in the red zone for some reason. Mostly local residents in rural areas are ill. In hotels of sick tourists – isolated cases. There are more cases in Istanbul, but again, these are locals. “

Our compatriot Elizaveta is flying with her husband on vacation to Alanya on September 12 (she posted an advertisement in a Turkish public about renting an apartment):

– I have been to Turkey many times. I love this country for its climate, cuisine, location, affordable prices, – the girl shared with MK. – If we find decent housing, we will stay for the entire 90 days of vacation. Since we are not vaccinated, we will take the test. We are not afraid of viruses. We were in China when it all started, and after that we have already changed several countries … I actually do not live in Russia: I worked in China before the coronavirus, then I went to Turkey, worked there online. Then I left to work on the island of Jersey (Channel Islands), and now we will fly from here to Alanya again.

Anastasia, a Russian woman living and working remotely in Alania, said that she was not afraid of Covid and that she was not even aware of the alarming statistics on Covid. “It’s amazing for me, I don’t have a single friend who has had covid,” she told us. – I don’t think the situation in Russia is better. There is no tension, I go to the sea, meet friends in restaurants, in bars, all the people are sitting there – both locals and tourists. All on “relaxation”. I didn’t get vaccinated ”.

Another Russian woman, Margarita, periodically lives in Moscow, then in Alania, and on September 8 she flies again from the capital to Turkey with her children, and for a long time:

– I’m afraid of Covid, I was vaccinated, and now I was planning to have a revaccination, but in Moscow this is problematic and so far it has not been possible. But I really want to get revaccinated before the trip. By the way, due to the fact that everyone flies to Turkey, since other popular resort countries such as Spain are closed, housing rent in Alanya has now doubled in price! Apartments cost an average of 1,000 euros per month. Air tickets have also risen in price catastrophically – from 40% and more.

Victor from Noyabrsk has been resting with his wife in a Turkish resort for a week:

– The situation here is calm. But masks must be worn, for example, in stores; the option on the chin, as we wear it, will not work. Strengthening of antikidny measures is not observed. My wife and I feel safe, because we still have antibodies, we have had a mild illness. A funny detail: I bought a T-shirt of a famous brand in Alanya for my 4-year-old grandson, and along with it there was a children’s mask with a pattern to match the color of the T-shirt. This is how they teach children to use masks, they wear them with pleasure.

We asked a question to a well-known infectious disease specialist, Doctor of Medical Sciences Nikolay Malyshevwhat does he think about the Russians’ trips to Turkey?

– Of course, those who are vaccinated have significantly less chances of catching a coronavirus infection there, but the risk remains, – Nikolai Malyshev answered. – He can get infected, and transistor to infect others. But the most important thing is that our people will not want to lose money that they have already paid for their vacation. In any case, the one who is vaccinated can feel calmer, but at the same time he must observe all the necessary protective measures: wear a mask and so on. Now the holidays are coming to an end, children will go to school, respectively, the danger of the spread of coronavirus is also increasing. Therefore, all the same, it is necessary to assess the consequences, which our people, unfortunately, do not know how to do.
