Yemen’s Houthi Rebels Turn Seized Japanese Ship Into Tourist Attraction

The Houthi rebels from Yemen have turned the Japanese ship “GALAXY LEADER”, which they took over last month, into an attraction for tourists. Reuters news agency recorded people patrolling the ship and going down the ladder after touring the merchant ship seized by the Houthis off the coast of Al-Salif in Yemen last month.

Additional documentation showed tourists stepping on the flags of Israel and the United States spread out in the center of the ship.

On November 20, the Houthis hijacked the ship with 22 crew members on board. The cargo ship that was carrying vehicles was making its way from a port in southern Turkey to a port in western India, and the rebels took it over after descending on board from a helicopter and changing its direction. Now, as mentioned, it has become a visitor center.

The transformation of the seized ship into a tourist attraction is raising questions about ethics and the rights of the crew members who were originally on board. The move by the Houthi rebels has sparked controversy and has drawn international attention. The ship, which was once a working cargo vessel, is now a sightseeing spot for visitors, creating a bizarre and unsettling situation. As the situation unfolds, there are calls for action to ensure the rights of the crew members are protected and for the ship to be returned to its rightful owners.
