The former commander of the Donetsk separatists’ initiative group in Russia, a reserve colonel of the FTX Iqor Strelkovsupported the nomination of (Gırkin) for the presidency of the country.
Strelkov’s supporters have collected the 500 signatures needed for his candidacy.
This ceremony was supposed to end at 16:00 local time, but the event was delayed due to the long queue of people gathered to register and the absence of a notary.
The notary did not come to the event. The initiative group said that the process related to the notary’s case will be held tomorrow, December 26.
RFE/RL’s Russian service writes that if the notary does not come by December 26, they may refuse to register Strelkov.
It is reported that CEC representatives did not participate in this meeting.
Strelkov is currently in detention. The former “minister of internal affairs” of the so-called DPR has been accused of inciting extremist activities. With this article, he can be imprisoned for 5 years. The criminal case against Strelkov was filed on June 18.
