Germany’s industry is suffering from a production weakness – and the hope for the future of heat pump production is currently threatening to migrate. Given the politics, this is not surprising.

Germany’s industry experienced a pretty severe setback in March – “Die Presse” reported. Two core areas were particularly affected by the production weakness: automotive and mechanical engineering.

Economists were surprised by the extent of the production weakness, it said. Why? Isn’t that exactly the green plan? For example, hasn’t the car industry, formerly the figurehead of the German economic miracle, been politically harassed to the death for years with new conditions and bullied out of the country? Haven’t the energy prices been deliberately pushed up for years, which means serious competitive disadvantages for strongly export-oriented companies, such as the German mechanical engineering companies that are in demand worldwide?
Incidentally, the surprised economists cite excessive reluctance to invest as one of the reasons for the weakness of the two flagship sectors: the German investment rate has been well below the EU average for years.

And now it’s getting interesting: German companies don’t seem to be that sluggish in terms of investment.
