The department of Huila is preparing to receive young sports talents from six departments in the zonal finals of the 2024 Intercollegiate Games, an event that promises to be a great boost for sports and the socioeconomic development of the region.
The news was announced by Felipe Victoria Barragán, director of the Departmental Sports Institute (Inderhuila), who highlighted the investment of more than $2,000 million pesos by the Departmental Government to carry out this important sporting event.
The selection of Huila as the official venue for the zonal finals was confirmed after the installation of the technical committee in the municipality of Rivera the previous week, where the maximum score was obtained during the review carried out by the Ministry of Sports.
“We are pleased to inform all the people of Huila that the final regional zone of the Intercollegiate Games is now a reality for the department of Huila,” said Barragán. “We received the documentation that accredits our department as the host to develop these fairs next April.”

The event, which will take place from April 4 to 14, will feature the participation of students from different educational institutions in the region, who will compete in various sports disciplines. Barragán highlighted the economic and tourist importance that these games bring, positioning Huila as an outstanding alternative at the regional and national level for holding sporting events of this caliber.
«With these spaces we boost the economy, hospitality and transportation. In addition, we decentralize sport, allowing us to strengthen the popular economy through these transcendental events for us,” he emphasized.
The Huilense community is preparing to receive athletes and visitors, promoting physical activity, healthy competition and the comprehensive development of the region through school sports.
