After the swearing-in ceremony of the newly-elected committee of the Bangladesh Film Artists Association, journalists were attacked yesterday on April 23. About 20 journalists were injured. 4 people are admitted to the hospital. Journalists working in various fields, including entertainment journalists, have formed a human chain to protest this incident and demand a fair investigation and trial.

Today (April 24) the Television Cameramen Association organized a human chain protesting the incident in front of BFDC.

BFU President Omar Farooq, General Secretary Deep Azad, DUZ newly-elected President Sajjad Alam Tapu, Sohail Haider, Organizing Secretary Golam Mujtaba Dhrub, Bachsas President Raju Alim, General Secretary Rimon Mahfuz, former General Secretary Kamruzzaman Babu and others were present in the human chain.
The speakers in the human chain demanded immediate justice in this incident. Actors Joy Chowdhury, Shiva Shanu and Alexander Bo, involved in this incident, demanded cancellation of the association’s membership and other punishments.

The speakers said that journalists are being persecuted in many ways today. They are facing various obstacles while performing their professional duties. We call people who act in films as contemplatives. But when they take on the role of Mastan, what message do they convey to the society?

In this regard, a committee of 11 members has been formed to investigate the incident. Where five people have been kept by the film artists association and journalists. Producer Arshad Adnan is the advisor of the committee.

The ten-member inquiry committee consists of Liman Ahmed, Rahat Saiful, Ahmed Taukir, Bulbul Ahmed Joy, Abul Kalam from journalists and Misha Saudagar, DA Taib, Nana Shah, Rubel, Ratna from the artists’ association.
