Danny Avdia finished with his first double-double of the season tonight (between first and second) in Washington’s 102:106 victory over Charlotte. The Israeli scored 12 points and added 13 rebounds en route to his sixth win in the last seven games, including the fifth game of the last six in which he scored in double figures.
The Israeli said at the end: “We trust each other and the game plan, we are focused on both sides of the field and we must continue. We didn’t let the losses we had hurt us. When they let me lead the ball I gain confidence. The rebounds? I always like to take them, it’s part of my game.”
Avdia added: “We put emphasis on the rebounding element because Charlotte is good at offensive rebounding. the judges? I don’t know why I get whistled for a lot of fouls, I’m aggressive, sometimes it’s annoying, I guard the opponent’s best players and ‘soft’ fouls take me out of the game and the rhythm.”
The Israeli concluded: “I will try to continue to improve in order to commit fewer offenses and squeeze more. It will come as time goes by, I will grow up and they will give me more respect. It does get annoying sometimes, I won’t lie. I have challenges throughout the season and if it means I go to the bench to regain the place in the top five that’s fine. It doesn’t matter to me if I come up in the top five or from the bench, the challenges make me stronger.”
