jpnn.comPAPUA – The name of Papua Police Chief Inspector General Mathius D. Fakhiri is included in the candidate market for Papuan Governor for the 2024-2024 period.

Inspector General Mathius finally opened his voice regarding the information that had been circulating widely in society.

According to Mathius, currently he is still focused on carrying out his mandate as Papua Police Chief. He emphasized that he is still focused on security after the 2024 elections have been completed.

“My job is still the Regional Police Chief, I will finish securing this election first,” said Inspector General Mathius D. Fakhiri to reporters, Friday (22/3).

Mathius himself was reluctant to comment further regarding his name being included in the competition map for seat Papua 1. He wanted the Papuan people to judge the exchange.

“I don’t want to talk about what the candidate is, please let the public talk and judge,” he said.

Previously, the name of Inspector General Mathius D. Fakhiri was included as a candidate for Governor of Papua in the upcoming 2024 regional elections. This two-star general is considered the right person to serve as Governor of Papua.

Meanwhile, the Executive Secretary of the Campus Coalition for Democracy, Elvira Rumkabu, revealed several criteria that future Papuan Governor Candidates must have. One of them is a candidate who understands the problems in Papua such as armed conflict and development.

“I think it’s very important because apart from understanding that there is conflict, there is a context and dynamics of conflict that continues to occur, not only armed conflict but also development problems,” said Elvira Rumkabu.

Even so, this lecturer at Cenderawasih University also hopes that the candidate elected as Governor of Papua will be a visionary figure. Apart from that, he wants the next Governor of Papua to be able to provide solutions to the problems that have occurred so far.

“But there must also be alignment in resolving these problems,” he added.

Elvira said further that the most important thing is that the new Governor of Papua will be able to provide affirmative policies that are able to develop indigenous Papuans based on the Special Autonomy Law. (mcr30/jpnn)
