An army helicopter crashed while traveling in a vampire area near Coonoor in the Nilgiris district. Pipin Rawat, the commander-in-chief of the 3rd Brigade, who was traveling in the helicopter, and 13 others, including his wife, were burnt to death. Following this, Varun Singh was rescued and treated at the Army Hospital in Coonoor. Later, he was rushed to the Bangalore Commando Hospital for further treatment. However, Indian Air Force officials said that Captain Varun Singh’s health was stable but stable. He continued to receive intensive care with life-saving equipment. The doctors made every effort to save him. However, Captain Varun Singh succumbed to his injuries. Prime Minister Modi, Chief Minister MK Stalin and DTV Dinakaran have expressed condolences over his death.

In a condolence message issued by Sasikala, referring to himself as the AIADMK General Secretary, he said: The news that only Captain Varun Singh, who was critically injured in the accident, was rescued alive and treated at the hospital, has now left us without any treatment.
Expressing my deepest condolences and sympathy to the family and friends of Captain Varun Singh who lost his life, Sasikala said, “I pray to Almighty God to grant peace to his soul.”
