New York, 2026-02-13 02:24:00—IDW Publishing is stepping into the shadowy world of crime with the launch of its new imprint, IDW Crime, beginning this May. Building on the success of its horror line, IDW Dark, the new venture promises a return to the roots of the medium, exploring the dark impulses that drive people to cross the line.
A New Imprint Rooted in Noir and Modern Thrills
IDW Crime will feature creator-driven comics that delve into the complexities of the criminal mind and the consequences of obsession. The imprint’s initial lineup includes three compelling miniseries: Seven Wives #1, arriving in May; Killer Influences #1, slated for July; and Fixation #1, debuting in September. Each series will span three issues, with each installment clocking in at over 40 pages for $4.99.
What makes a saint turn into a sinner? That’s the question at the heart of IDW Crime, according to those involved, and the stories aim to capture the “twisted, everyday acts of humans that we just can’t look away from.”
Unraveling Secrets in the Desert: Seven Wives #1
The first case to hit shelves is Seven Wives #1, penned by Zoe Tunnell (Sink Your Teeth In) with art by V Gagnon and Tesslyn Bergin-Dicoi. The story centers around a murder investigation at a Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints compound in remote Arizona. With 49 witnesses and seven wives, detectives must untangle a web of secrets and brainwashing to uncover the truth behind the death.

The Dark Side of Influence: Killer Influences #1
In July, readers will be plunged into the unsettling world of Killer Influences #1, from Eisner Award-nominated writer Joey Esposito (The Pedestrian) and artist Valeria Burzo (EC Comics: Epitaphs from the Abyss). The series follows Melvin, a methodical serial killer desperate for notoriety, and Kylie, an aspiring true crime influencer who sees him as her ticket to fame. Their unlikely partnership promises a chilling exploration of obsession and the lengths people will go to for recognition.
Fandom and Fatal Obsession: Fixation #1
Rounding out the initial launch is Fixation #1, arriving in September. Writer Amy Chase (Newburn) and artist Savanna Mayer (RETURN TO SLEEPY HOLLOW) deliver a suspenseful tale of fandom gone wrong. When two superfans win a contest to stay at the iconic house from their favorite vampire franchise, a weekend getaway turns deadly. A murder has occurred, and the killer is determined to become a part of the franchise’s dark history.
Senior Group Editor Heather Antos emphasized the imprint’s commitment to honoring the legacy of crime comics, stating, “Crime has a deep, often under-celebrated history in comics…With the IDW Crime imprint, we’re honoring that legacy while giving it a modern spotlight — elevating creator-driven stories that feel urgent, character-forward, and unapologetically human.”
Senior Group Editor Jake Thomas added, “No other genre explores the warring impulses of humanity like crime, but it’s also a genre built on tension, pacing, character work, and crackerjack storytelling, all elements that are elemental to comics and build truly rip-roaring yarns.”
