The journalist Ignacio Rodríguez Burgos, head of economics at Onda Cero, has won the ‘VI edition of the KPMG/Rosa del Río Economic Journalism Award’ convened by the Association of European Journalists and KPMG.

The jury of the ‘VI KPMG/Rosa del Río Economic Journalism Award’ highlighted the winner, Ignacio Rodríguez Burgos, for his daily work in an “especially difficult” format for economic information such as radio.

Among the merits that make him the recipient of the award are an “indisputable” career, his encyclopedic culture and communication skills that allow him to explain complex issues “in a didactic and entertaining way” both in the most rigid information spaces and in the improvisation of the gathering .

Graduated in Information Sciences from the Complutense University of Madrid, Ignacio Rodríguez Burgos worked at the SER chain and was a member of the founding team of Onda Cero. Head of the economics section of this same station, he has a career of more than 35 years in journalism, 21 of them within the economic area.

Trajectory in Economics

The economic journalism award was created in 2018 with the aim of highlighting journalistic trajectories or works related to economic, financial or stock market information that deserve it for their talent, originality, informative spirit, didactic force or ability to overcome pressure.

Since its inception, they have collaborated with BME Bolsas y Mercados Españoles. Endowed with 18,000 euros and an accrediting diploma, the award seeks to recognize the journalistic values of honesty, rigor, clarity and independence, principles with which KPMG fully identifies and which have led it to become part of the call for and sponsorship of this initiative.
