Bronze statue was installed in Cantinho do Zeca Record TV Rio Singer and composer Zeca Pagodinho participated in the inauguration of a statue in honor of him in Xerém, district of Duque de Caxias, in Baixada Fluminense, this Saturday (23). The statue, made of bronze and measuring 1.80 m tall — a little taller than the samba singer — was installed in Cantinho do Zeca, in a square that is a few meters away from his house. When asked about the glass of beer that the statue has in one of its hands, Zeca Pagodinho joked: “It’s empty, you already drank it.” An illustrious resident of Xerém, Zeca Pagodinho has lived in the region for 30 years. Much loved by his neighbors, the artist is also recognized for his support of social actions and for making the neighborhood famous internationally. “Zeca is ours. It is a historical heritage of Xerém”, said a resident in an interview with Record TV Rio.
