Victim of a serious horse riding accident last May in Andalusia, the Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper continues his convalescence. In a video interview given to DAZN, the 30-year-old Spaniard gave some reassuring news: “I feel much better every day, my body is becoming the way it was before. I think I’m 90% recovered. »

Hospitalized for 82 days, Rico sees the end of the tunnel and wishes to resume his activity as a guard. “There’s no other option in my mind,” he continued. All the doctors told me that I could come back without any problem. If they are not afraid, why should I be afraid? »

“A gap of four to five hours”

He also spoke about his memories of that night from May 28 to 29, while he was on a pilgrimage to El Rocio, an Andalusian village: “I remember finishing a match in Strasbourg, landing and then being got into a friend’s car at the airport. And from then on, I don’t remember anything. Not even having arrived at El Rocio. I have a gap of four or five hours, I don’t remember anything until I wake up in the hospital.”

The Spaniard remembers waking up “a little scared” by the many screens and cables around him. “The doctor asked me if I recognized my mother and my wife, I told him: obviously! », he adds. Rico did not, however, wish to clarify the consequences of his fall from a horse: “My family told me that there was no need to know: what difference would it make to know? It was an accident, as could happen to anyone. »
