Vienna The Ukraine war is getting closer and closer to the NATO states: Attacks on the Ukrainian infrastructure in the Danube Delta are increasing, in some cases the explosive devices fall just 200 meters from the Romanian NATO border.

On Wednesday, the Russian army attacked the Danube port of Ismai. Most of the Danube Delta belongs to EU and NATO member Romania, but part also belongs to Ukraine.

The Brussels headquarters of the transatlantic defense alliance is likely to be keeping a close eye on the military operations on the border with NATO territory, but so far the alliance has been surprisingly reticent. Unlike the NATO member Romania, which sharply condemned the attack on Ismail: Romania’s President Klaus Johannis spoke of a “completely unacceptable action” and accused Russia of committing war crimes.
