In Russia, small-scale production of the second version of the kamikaze drone “Gadfly” began, declared head of the design group-manufacturer Andrey Ivanov “RIA Novosti”.
“An unmanned aerial vehicle “Gadfly” version 2.0 has been developed and launched into small-scale production. This is a device with a modified electronic filling, with a new propeller group, as well as a number of curiosities that cannot be discussed,” he said.
“Gadfly” works on the principle of First Person View (FPV, first-person view). The cost of the first modification, which, according to Ivanov, remains the main one, is 40,000 rubles, and the second is about 65,000 rubles. As the agency notes, this drone is actively used in the Avdiivka and Zaporozhye directions.
Earlier in August, Russian President Vladimir Putin held a working meeting with Rostec CEO Sergei Chemezov, during which he instructed to increase the production of the latest weapons. Chemezov noted that the share of Russian weapons involved in the special operation is 90%. He added that the “Cube” and “Lancet” drones “proven to be excellent”, in particular.
The President, in turn, said that both of these UAVs showed themselves effectively during the special operation. “Firstly, the impact is powerful, any equipment, including foreign-made equipment, not only burns, but ammunition also explodes,” he said. Manufacturers promised to increase the production of these drones, Putin added.
