Saudi Arabia has started implementing naturalization in 3 regions from today. Indigenization is being implemented in the areas of driving school, engineering and customs clearance. The decision was made to employ 20,000 natives in the jobs of general manager, government relations officer, customs clearance clerk, customs agent, customs broker, translator, driving instructor and observer.
Many people working in Saudi Arabia, including Malayalees, are worried about the new decision because thousands of foreigners will lose their jobs as part of the process. Saudi Arabia had earlier announced that it would intensify repatriation in 20 areas as part of its efforts to provide jobs for its citizens.
