More than six months after the vote in parliament on a law to limit the enclosure of natural areas, the situation is not improving in Sologne, quite the contrary! “We are seeing an acceleration, there is abuse, it is unthinkable,” protests Raymond Louis, president of the Friends of the Chemins de Sologne, an association he founded 25 years ago with his wife.

Since the promulgation of the law on February 2, he has reported the installation of around a hundred new fences, in addition to the 4,000 km already existing, and he is not the only one to have reported this type of fence. information to the French Biodiversity Office, responsible for monitoring compliance with the law.

In this game-rich territory, which extends over the departments of Loiret, Loir-et-Cher and Cher, the new text requires that fences do not exceed 1.2 m in height and be planted 30 cm above off the ground so that animals can move around.

Owners have until 2027 to comply with the law, and the text will apply to all fences erected less than 30 years ago. But the implementing decrees are still awaited, which can give rise to a feeling of impunity among certain owners. “They say to themselves that if the fence has been installed, it will be more difficult to have it removed,” continues Raymond Louis.

Last week, he went to Paris accompanied by the president of the Centre-Val de Loire region, François Bonneau, and the writer Nicolas Vanier to meet the Minister of Ecological Transition and Territorial Cohesion Christophe Béchu and share these difficulties with him. He was “very attentive” and promised that the implementing decrees would soon be signed. “I am convinced that he will enforce the law,” adds Raymond Louis. The Region assures in a press release that the delegation will remain very mobilized so that, “as soon as possible, Sologne is freed from what is disfiguring it”.
