In Tyumen, nine people were fatally poisoned by counterfeit alcohol. As a result, the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Tyumen Region opened a criminal case under the article on the sale of products that did not meet the requirements of the safety of life and health of consumers and, through negligence, resulted in the death of two or more persons. This was reported on the website of the RF IC on Saturday evening, January 8.

According to the investigation, the poisoning occurred as a result of the ingestion of methyl alcohol, which was sold to citizens with a vodka label “Springs of Siberia” in the period from January 3, 2022.

Employees of the Investigative Committee of Russia and the local police have detained four suspects, now they are conducting examinations at their place of residence, as well as at the scene of the crime, witnesses are being questioned, according to a press release from the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.
