Chennai: The officials of the Income Tax Department and the Enforcement Department conducted simultaneous raids at more than 10 places in Chennai yesterday.
Following the complaint of tax evasion of several crores of rupees in the importation of raw materials for the production of medicines from foreign countries during the Corona period, the Income Tax Department officials conducted a search yesterday at the Kanwarlal Group’s pharmaceutical manufacturing company and pharmaceutical wholesale purchasing companies.
Earlier, the Income Tax Department conducted a 3-day raid on the premises belonging to this company in October last year. Income Tax officials are conducting raids at the company’s owner’s house and offices in Chaukarpet and factories in Madhavaram.
Similarly, Income Tax Department officials also raided Auditor Subramanian’s office at Raja Annamalaipuram. Also, the enforcement officers conducted a search at the house of Peter, who runs a factory in Guindy, at his house in Kottupuram. The test was also held yesterday at the house of Dr. Sundar from Abiramapuram, Chennai. He is said to be a relative of MGM. In total, more than 10 locations have been tested. Officials did not release any details about the raid.
