At a time when Russia is waging war on Ukraine, the United States has expressed its concern over countries including India participating in military exercises with Russia.
It has been almost 6 months since Russia started its military operations against Ukraine. While the war may still be going on, a military exercise called ‘Vostok-2022’ is going to be conducted on behalf of Russia. More than 50 thousand soldiers from countries including India and China are participating in this. 140 warplanes, 60 warships, 5,000 military equipment are involved in this grand exercise. The exercise will be held in Russia’s Far East, Sea of Japan till September 7.
A military team of 75 people is going to be sent on behalf of India for this exercise. It has been informed that the team will have representatives from the Gurkha Division, Navy and Air Force.
At a time when Russia is waging war on Ukraine, the United States has expressed its concern over countries including India and China participating in military exercises with Russia. The ‘Vostok-2022’ military exercise will involve troops from several former Soviet states, China, India, Laos, Mongolia, Nicaragua and Syria.
Since Russia started war on Ukraine, India has been neutral in this matter. However, India voted against Russia for the first time in the recent UN resolution on Ukraine. Earlier, India had temporarily suspended its plan to purchase around 30 fighter jets from Russia.
