Dubai: An Indian man who was battling a rare disease in the United Arab Emirates has survived an 18-day series of treatments.
Laldale Ram Harkesh, 52, from Himachal Pradesh, is working as a ‘foreman’ in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, one of the Gulf countries. He had a severe stomach ache a few days ago. Thought of as gas nuisance and indifferent.

A few days later there was a fever. When the doctors were approached, some tests were done based on the suspicion. In the end, it was revealed that he was suffering from a rare disease called DTP, also known as ‘thrombotic thrombocytopenia purpura’.
DTP is a rare disease that occurs in the blood. Out of 10 lakh people, 46 are affected by this disease. People with this disease are at risk of blood clots in their blood vessels. Thus, there is a risk of death due to obstruction of blood flow to vital organs including brain, kidneys and heart.
Harkesh was admitted to the intensive care unit of Lifecare Hospital in the United Arab Emirates. There, a team of 12 multidisciplinary specialists began treating him. After 18 days of intensive treatment, Harkesh recovered.
