Delhi: Indian women’s cricketer Rumeli Dhar has retired from international cricket. Rumeli, a pace bowling all-rounder, is retiring at the age of 38. Rumeli Thar last played in the 2018 tri-nation cricket tournament in Brabourne between India, Australia and England.

‘I am finally retiring from a 23 – year cricket career that started in Shyamnagar, West Bengal. Stepping out of all formats of cricket. It was a journey of ups and downs. He represented the Indian cricket team, played in the 2005 World Cup final and captained the Indian team. Injuries haunted his career. But always came back strong.

I would like to thank my family, BCCI, friends and teams (Bengal, Railways, Air India, Delhi, Rajasthan, Assam) for stepping out of my favorite sport. Thank you for believing in my ability and giving me the opportunity. It was these teams that paved the way for me to join the Indian team. What every game has taught me will be strong in the second inning of life. Will continue to collaborate with cricket and provide all possible assistance to youngsters. Thank you to everyone who came together in the fall and failure. Thanks also to those who provided support during the emergency. Thank you once again for all the love, ”Rumeli Thar wrote in a detailed retirement note.

Rumeli Thar made his international debut in 2003 against England. Rumeli Thar played four Tests, 78 ODIs and 18 International T20s for the Indian women’s cricket team. He scored 1328 runs and took 84 wickets in all formats. He was a member of the Indian team that reached the 2005 World Cup final in South Africa. Became India’s highest wicket-taker in the 2009 T20 World Cup. He took 6 wickets in 4.78 economy in four matches.
