Indigenization of Saudi aviation sector: First phase begins

The first phase of Saudization announced in the aviation sector has come into force. In some positions in private aviation companies and institutions, up to sixty percent must be Saudis.

The first phase has come into effect from today. The requirement applies to private aviation companies and institutions. The project was announced on March 15 last year. The project is implemented by the Saudi Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development. The aim is to find employment for ten thousand natives through the project. In the first phase, a certain percentage of indigenization will be implemented in five posts.

Sixty percent of the posts of co-pilot, air navigator, air traffic controller and ground movement coordinator, fifty percent of the post of air hostess will be reserved for natives in the first phase. The second phase of the project will start from March 4 next year.
