INE distributes 7.5 million pesos to organizations to observe the election

He National Electoral Institute (INE) will distribute 7.5 million pesos among 25 organizations that will carry out observation and analysis during electoral journey of the next June 2nd.

In a press conference, Salvador Romero, technical secretary of the Evaluation Committees of the Support Fund for Electoral Observation (FAOE), indicated that 42 organizations presented projects, of which 25 were accepted that met the parameters of the electoral body.

He added that those chosen will receive technical assistance and 300 thousand pesos per project as support for logistics and expenses during their observation work.

The official explained that among the issues that will be analyzed and reports will be presented is the early voting process in the country’s prisons, as well as the participation of indigenous sectors, women and youth.

For her part, Marisa Arlene Cabral, coordinator of International Affairs, reported that the organizations must verify the exercise of resources and the Technical Inspection Unit will be in charge of reviewing the exercise of resources.

Regarding citizens who have registered as electoral observers, without registering research projects, counselor Norma Irene de la Cruz indicated that there are 15,961 applications, of which more than 6,000 have already been approved.

“We are very optimistic because we have had a fairly good response and we continue to invite citizens to register as electoral observers,” he stated.

He added that “a high turnout is expected and the murder of candidates is regrettable and we are working with the security forces because it is a duty of the Mexican State to guarantee the safety of the electoral observers.”

For his part, counselor Ucc-kib Espadas pointed out that the problem of registration for the voting of Mexicans from abroad is being resolved and ruled out that it was an alleged fraud to alter the results of the presidential vote.

“No one could think of tampering with the presidential election based on 39,000 dubious registrations, that is not what the INE is thinking about, but rather that everyone has the right to vote.”
