The selected consultant will also formulate strategies to promote the theme park among tourists and attract global investment. The aim of developing this new theme park is to promote the growth of the tourism industry and attract tourists from all over the world. And the Directorate of Industries and Commerce, Jammu and Kashmir is expected to take up the project and set up a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) for it.
For this purpose the Government of Jammu and Kashmir has appointed an internationally renowned consultancy firm to advise on the development of a theme park in Srinagar. The document states that the selected consultant will prepare a ‘Theme Park Benchmarking Study Report’ to gather an understanding of best practices followed by theme parks nationally and globally.
In this research list, Universal Orlando Resort, Busch Gardens Theme Park, Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, Torney Park & Wild Water Kingdom, Six Flags Mexico, Atlantis Paradise Island Resort- Bahamas, Mount Olympus Water Park, U Reversal, Studio Singapore, Sentosa Skyline Luge & include global theme parks such as Skyride.
Adlabs Imagica in Maharashtra, Kingdom of Dreams-Gurgaon, Wonderla Bangalore, Ramoji Film City and national theme parks like Esselworld and Water Kingdom in Mumbai will also be seen in the consultancy study.
A team of government officials and three consultants will visit two global and two national theme parks to conduct the exercise and prepare a detailed inspection report.
The selected consultant will prepare a project promotion plan, formulate a strategy to promote the theme park among tourists and facilitate investment promotion activities in reaching out to global investors.

Tattoo Stadium
The Jammu government is building a ‘Citizen Park’ at the Tatoo Maidan in Patamalu area, which has been in the possession of the Indian Army for many years. Former Jammu Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Saeed laid the foundation stone of the 17-acre ‘Citizen Park’ in 2015 after the army vacated a portion of it. His daughter and People’s Democratic Party leader Meghbooba Mufti had last year asked the Jammu administration to use Tatoo Stadium to build a cancer hospital and a sports ground.
