Apple made the final decision on the Dynamic Island notch design for the iPhone screen after a lengthy process of research and testing of various options. This was reported by the MacRumors portal, Day.Az reports with reference to Gazeta.ru.

According to the source, Apple was considering several alternative ways to place interface elements, such as the clock, communication and battery indicators, as well as brightness and sound controls. One of them was the context menu that appeared on the right side of the screen when clicked. Another is to completely hide the notch behind a black stripe at the top of the screen, which would be almost invisible thanks to the OLED matrix. A similar solution can be found on Android devices in the form of the “Hide Notch” function.

Additionally, even after deciding on the notch itself, Apple experimented with the size of the Dynamic Island and how to interact with it. But in the end, the company chose the Dynamic Island concept, which is used in current iPhone models.

The Dynamic Island notch first appeared on the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max. Base models offered the notch cutout that’s been around since the 2017 iPhone X.
