Institute for Human Rights at Human Rights Days 2023: Seminars, Report Release, and Booth 60 Conversations

The Institute for Human Rights to Participate in Human Rights Days in Helsingborg

From November 23 to 25, the Institute for Human Rights will be participating in the Human Rights Days in Helsingborg. As part of the event, the institute will be hosting two seminars, releasing a new report, and inviting attendees to engage in discussions about current rights issues at booth 60 on the exhibitor square.

This marks the second time that the Institute for Human Rights is participating in the MR days, which are considered the largest forum for debate and conversation about human rights in the Nordic countries.

The institute has organized the following programs for this year’s event:

Seminars:

“MR Developments in Sweden – The Institute for Human Rights Reports”
– When: Thursday, November 23, 2023, at 10:00 – 11:00
– The Institute for Human Rights will be presenting its activities and launching its new report “Knowledge of and Experiences of Human Rights in Sweden 2022–2023.” The seminar will also include a discussion with the Confederation of African Swedes and Malmö Against Discrimination about obstacles and opportunities for claiming human rights in Sweden.

Participants in the seminar include Fredrik Malmberg, Director of the Institute for Human Rights, Marie Cham, Chair of the National Organization of Afro-Swedish people, Karin Henrikz, Deputy Operations Manager of Malmö Against Discrimination, and investigators Selma Gušić and Anna Jacobson from the Institute for Human Rights.

“The Institute for Human Rights Work for Strengthened Functional Rights”
– When: Friday, November 24, 2023, at 14:00 – 14:30
– The seminar will focus on the institute’s mission to promote, protect, and monitor the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. It will also highlight the institute’s upcoming report on the rights situation for persons with disabilities in Sweden.

Participants in this seminar include investigators Katarina Leffler, Ola Linder, and Emma Melander-Borg from the Institute for Human Rights, as well as Therese Wappsell, a member of the institute’s council for human rights and the board of Inre Ringen Sverige.

In addition to the seminars, attendees are encouraged to visit stand 60 on the exhibitor square to engage in discussions about the institute’s new report and other current rights issues.
