Three (03) years without interruption, the Kaïros festival or even (Raise your voice for him, for God) a festival centered on Christian instrumentalists has held its march. This year again, the organizers decided to stick to the challenge despite the difficult context. On October 26, 27 and 28, 2023, the Dernier Trumpet musical training center will vibrate to the rhythms of the Kaïros festival.
« This year again Kaïros decided to work with Burkinabe instrumentalists, 7 drummers, 4 bassists, 2 pianists, etc. to local rhythms. Burkina Faso is full of rhythms. And the drummers tried to do a transposition, on the drums. It’s better to come and listen and watch », says Samuel Zabsonré, musician, instrumentalist, trainer, promoter of the Kaïros festival.

The edition is held under the theme: “ The shine of glory on Burkina Faso “. Teachings will be given by eminent preachers such as Pastor Issouf Compaoré, Georges Zabsonré, Samuel Yaméogo, all musicians. Kaïros or “Raise your voice for God” is a framework which questions the role of the Christian instrumentalist in the direction of his art.
This is an opportunity for artists and groups of artists to take turns on the artistic stage for live entertainment to the great delight of the public. Among others, La voix des léves, Nextlevel, Grégoire Yanogo, Achille Ouattara and Faso funky, and many other artists will be there.
In addition to these aspects, Kaïros 2023 is innovating with the installation of a shopping street open to the general public. Tents will be made available for different exhibitions, informs Samuel Zabsonré. But, the festival pursues an ideal, he says, “ the healthy education of young musicians. Kaïros is music without tobacco, music without alcohol ».
Kaïros is a Christian festival but open to everyone. Its birth was inspired by the teachings of Pastor Georges Zabsonré. And Samuel Zabsonré decided to bring together his musical friends and brothers around the fundamentals of music. Moreover, the 2023 edition will teach behaviors that an instrumentalist must adopt.
Kaïros is also a project which aims to highlight instrumentalists, key players in the 4th art who work anonymously. “ The Festival is very focused on instrumentalists, because we have noticed that instrumentalists are often forgotten.
Each time it is the singers who are highlighted. Without us (instrumentalists, editor’s note) too, they will not be able to sing and without them we cannot play. But we noticed that the instrumentalists are not seen. And we want to shine a light on them », expressed Samuel Zabsonré.
This festival which is already in its mature phase has a broader vision. “ Our vision for kaïros is to go beyond our borders. One day do Kaïros in Italy, in France, in the United States. All over the world to prove that instrumentalists have something to give. It already exists in other countries, we want it to go further than that », confides the artist.
Preparations are going well, the event has acquired the confidence of the Ministry of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism, the Burkinabè Copyright Office (BBDA), etc., to whom the committee of organization of the 3rd edition of Kaïros, reiterates its gratitude and recognition.
