Chennai: Comedian Vadivelu’s comedy team has Vengal Rao as the lead actor. He was first a stunt artist and later acted as a ‘dope’ in fight scenes for some actors including Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra and Rajinikanth. Born in Punadipadu village near Vijayawada, he was involved in an accident while performing in a fight scene. He was treated for injuries to various parts of his body and continued to suffer from inability to act in fight scenes. In this situation, he joined Vadivelu’s comedy team and acted in many films and gave many hit comedies. Vengal Rao, who is currently starring in Vadivelu’s ‘Naisekar Returns’ directed by Suraj, has been suffering from kidney failure. He was admitted to the Vijayawada Government Hospital in the intensive care unit and is being treated by doctors.
