Interior Ministry corruption case: Senior official in Kuwait jailed for 15 years

Kuwait City | Brigadier General Adil Ashash, the former head of the Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Interior in Kuwait, has been fined 113 million dinars (about Rs 2,900 crore) and sentenced to 15 years of rigorous imprisonment. The Kuwaiti Court of Appeal issued the sentence today.

He was earlier sentenced to 30 years rigorous imprisonment and the sentence was commuted in his appeal. A huge corruption was found in the procurement of bouquets for receiving visiting dignitaries at the Ministry of Home Affairs.

He was then arrested and dismissed from service after the court found him guilty.
