THE HEALTH SOLIDARITY FUND IN FACT FIRES THE SECRETARY OF ORGANIZATION OF THE UNT IN EL SALVADOR.
The doctor. Alberto Monge He has been working at the Solidarity Fund for Health (FOSALUD) as an emergency doctor for almost 15 years. In addition, he has been a member of the Health Workers Union (SI-TRA-SALUD) for more than 9 years. This union has led important struggles and at the beginning of the Bukele government, it managed to contain and reverse the first attempt to take away the acquired rights of workers in the institution. This victory brought about the persecution of the employers who initiated a dismissal process against Dr. Monge who, as general secretary of the union, led the fight. He did not succeed in this intention because in the civil service commission he was exonerated and kept in his job as they did not find reasons to dismiss him.

Recently the union and Dr. Monge have led a fight in defense of fellow workers fired while pregnant in addition to denouncing other violations of labor rights by the FOSALUD employers. For this reason, the employers, in a furious reaction, have decided to PREVIOUSLY SUSPEND (a process by which the worker is declared a danger to the institution and is separated from his job while the civil service commission resolves the dismissal request). This process has been the same one that employers in the health sector have used to fire labor rights defenders and today the same process is applied against the colleague in FOSALUD.
The reasons given for dismissing him are quite ridiculous since they claim that Dr. Monge did not ask for permission to work elsewhere in his free time and that he misses his scheduled shifts at the institution without justification when the corresponding union licenses have previously been requested. to defend the rights of workers in the institution. The first reason, with some nuances, was the same one used in the first dismissal attempt, so they are reactivating a process that had already been clarified in favor of the colleague, making it clear that the only and true intention is to penalize, punish and sanction in a manner exemplary to the general secretary of the union.
As of March 15, our colleague Dr. Alberto Monge is dismissed, so we request your support in the Campaign for Union Freedom in El Salvador, which already has more than 100 union leaders dismissed from their jobs.

As a sister organization, we raise our voice of protest and condemn these actions, which should be surpassed in history, union activity is inherent to the democratic development of our people.
We make a strong call to the authorities of FOSALUD, the Ministry of Health, and the Ministry of Labor in El Salvador, and we ask that this attitude cease and that our colleague Alberto Monge be reinstated to his work, as well as the hundreds of union leaders dismissed or suspended.
