« This day is an opportunity to reaffirm the catalytic and transversal role of volunteering in the joint response to sustainable development priorities in Burkina Faso, a space for dialogue and exchange around community volunteers. », introduced Edmonde Kaboré, volunteer at the national volunteer program of Faso.
To combine business with pleasure, the volunteers took advantage of this commemoration to raise grievances, in order to carry out their activities. “ First of all, it must be said that there are many young people in Burkina who are ready to be volunteers, but the difficulty that exists is the financial difficulty linked to the fact that when a volunteer is mobilized, there are expenses, even if it is not a salary, the allowance that we give to volunteers for care in relation to travel and catering.
And since we don’t have the means, that means there are many who apply but they don’t have the means. Also on the ground there are other difficulties because at the community level, many do not understand the meaning of volunteering, there is the reluctance which is already there », recalled Edmonde Kaboré.

“National volunteering, an instrument of popular mobilization for harmonious and united development”, is the theme chosen for this edition, at the national level. A rather challenging theme, to listen to the minister in charge of youth and employment. Therefore, he notes that arrangements are underway within their ministry to respond to the grievances of these volunteers.
« Several reforms are currently underway within the department. And all these reforms are undertaken and aimed at young people, because today we will have to occupy our young people. Today, of course we are waging a war and we are already thinking about the post-war period. », indicated Hyppolite Bassolé, director of the cabinet of the Ministry of Sports, Youth and Employment.
For this day, many volunteers were present. Assistant Security Volunteers (VADS), Volunteers for the Defense of the Fatherland (VDP), Health Volunteers, Red Cross volunteers, and many others.
