The Strategic Roadmap for the Development of Telecommunications and Information Technologies in the Republic of Azerbaijan defines as a target indicator to bring the average speed of Internet use by one user in a stable broadband network in the country to 50 Mbit/s in 2025 and to the level of developed countries after 2025.

As Day.Az reported on Wednesday with reference to Trend, the acting director stated this while making an opening speech at a meeting with a number of Internet providers held at the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) Agency, Azerbaijan’s regulatory body for telecommunications and postal services. O. Chairman of ICT Nail Mardanov.

It was suggested that the speed increase be tested in a pilot mode and the results discussed again with the ICT agency.

Representatives of Internet providers who spoke at the meeting noted that recent increases in the cost of transportation, equipment and infrastructure have led to increased costs.

In order to objectively study the possibility of the impact of increasing speed on price increases, operators and providers also discussed informing the agency about how tariffs for Internet services are formed.
