A wonderful JAZZ DAY was held at the Heydar Aliyev Palace in Baku with the participation of Azerbaijani jazz stars, which became a great holiday for lovers of this genre of art and was organized by 33Event with the support of VTB (Azerbaijan), Day.Az reports.

The concert was attended by jazz stars, folk and honored artists, laureates of international competitions – Aziza Mustafazadeh with her son Ramiz Khan, Salman Gambarov, Jamil Amirov, Tofig Jabbarov (Bakuba group), Mirjavad Jafarov (Dzhangi group), Isfar Sarabsky, Emil Afrasiab, Shahin Novrasli, Etibar Asadli, Afgan Rasul, Elvin Bashirov, Ruslan Huseynov, Isa Bagirov, Joshgun Sadikhov, Elbay Mammadzade. The host of the evening was the famous radio and television presenter Rahib Azeri.

The history of Azerbaijani jazz dates back to the 30s of the twentieth century. The first jazz orchestra in Baku was created in 1938 by the famous Azerbaijani composers Niyazi and Tofig Guliyev. This orchestra, called the State Variety Symphony Orchestra, became the basis of Azerbaijani jazz. The heyday of jazz in the country occurred in the 60s of the last century, when musicians such as Vagif Mustafazadeh, Tofig Akhmedov, Rafig Babayev and the Gaya quartet brought new colors to this musical direction in the country. Azerbaijani jazz, based on the traditions of mugham, has become a significant phenomenon. The first jazz festival in Baku took place in 1969. Every year, the capital hosts various events and concerts with the participation of world celebrities. Azerbaijani jazz performers are participants and winners of many international jazz festivals and competitions.
