In St. Petersburg, a criminal case was opened against a woman under the article on insulting the feelings of believers for a photograph with a naked body against the background of St. Isaac’s Cathedral. This was reported on the website of the regional department of the Investigative Committee.

According to the investigation, the 30-year-old woman showed disrespect to society, “humiliating and insulting the religious feelings of believers, took a picture in front of the cathedral building, and then sent the picture to one of the messengers for further dissemination of the photo on the Internet.

“At present, the issue of choosing a preventive measure against her and bringing charges against her is being resolved,” the Investigative Committee said.

The maximum punishment under the article that the suspect is charged with (part 1 of article 148 of the Criminal Code) provides for imprisonment for up to one year.
