Iraq and Iran are discussing developments in the railway link project between Shalamcheh and Basra

Baghdad / Obelisk Al-Hadath: The Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Development, Mehrdad Bazarbash, discussed with the Iraqi Minister of Transport the developments of the railway link project between Shalamjah (in Khuzestan Governorate – southwest of the country) and the Iraqi Governorate of Basra.

Mehr News Agency reported that the Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Development, Mehrdad Bazarbash, held telephone talks today, Tuesday, with the Iraqi Minister of Transport, Razzaq Mohibis Al-Saadawi, about the developments of the railway link project between Shalamcheh (in Khuzestan Governorate – southwest of the country) and the Iraqi Governorate of Basra.

In this contact, the two sides also exchanged views on the Arbaeen visit and the participation of Iranian nationals in this occasion, in addition to organizing a meeting of transport ministers to host the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.

In addition, the Iranian Minister of Roads announced that the Railways Authority of the Islamic Republic of Iran was assigned to follow up the project to build the railway between Shalamcheh and Basra, and to prepare a report on the procedures followed in this regard.
