The Iraqi Central Chess Federation announced its participation in the World Olympiad Championship for men and women, hosted by Hungary at the beginning of next August.

The head of the Chess Federation, Dhafer Abdel Amir, said in a statement to Al-Sabah newspaper, followed by the (INA), today, Sunday: “The desired goal of participation is to obtain individual medals and achieve distinguished results that contribute to raising the global rankings, especially since the World Olympiad It is considered one of the important external activities and witnesses the presence of internationally ranked champions.”
Abdul Amir added, “The technical staff will be keen in the coming weeks to choose the lineup for the national team for men and women, with five players for each category according to the system in force at the Olympics, in addition to attending the General Assembly meetings.”
