Samat Isabekov, the head of the Customs Service, gave information on cars brought to Kyrgyzstan from European countries and the USA and detained at the border of Belarus. Speaking at the meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh on May 4, he said that among the seized cars, documents were found that were purchased at a low price.

“For example, among the 40,000 dollar car that was bought, there were documents stating that it was bought for 350-500 dollars.” Because of that, the Belarusian side had a doubt whether they will be charged customs fees at such a price when they come to Kyrgyzstan,” said Isabekov.

He said that he had two talks with the customs service of Belarus regarding the cars brought to Kyrgyzstan.

On March 29, car transporters from the USA and Europe said that hundreds of their cars were detained in Belarus. According to them, the number of cars detained at the Belarusian border for the past five months is about 500.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan gave an explanation on this on March 29, and the embassy staff in that country said that they are working. According to it, when the employee of the embassy visited the Minsk regional customs service on February 1, it became known that the trawls will be subject to additional inspection as goods imported into the customs territory of the EAEU.

According to the information of the National Statistics Committee, 41 thousand 237 cars were imported to Kyrgyzstan last year, most of them, 10 thousand 604, were imported from South Korea. More than 16,000 cars were imported from European countries, including the USA and Canada.
