Israel launched an attack on the Gaza Strip today in retaliation for rocket fire from the Palestinian territory, which is entirely controlled by Hamas. The attack came just hours after US President Joe Biden visited Israel and the occupied West Bank.

The Israel Defense Forces announced in a statement that IDF warplanes attacked a military site of the rebel organization Hamas in the central Gaza Strip. In footage released by the IDF, explosions and plumes of smoke can be seen rising above the site of the attack.

At the same time, Hamas spokesman Hasem Qassim condemned the Israeli attack, and the official Palestinian news agency WAFA reported that no one was injured in the attack. The agency said Israel fired missiles at two locations.
The Israeli military said one of the rockets was intercepted and the other three hit vacant land.
